ESB Power outage impacting the water supply to customers in Lismore

14 July 2023

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann and Waterford City and County Council advise customers in Lismore of a disruption to supply due to an ESB power outage impacting production at the water treatment plant.

As a result, customers in Lismore and surrounding areas may be impacted by water outages and low pressure.

To support customers and return supplies as quickly as possible, Uisce Éireann has arranged for a generator to replace the normal power supply and restart production at the plant. Supply is expected to being returning at 2pm this afternoon, however, it may take 2-3 hours for normal water supply to return to all customers, especially those on higher ground, as production is restarted and water refills the network.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes.

Uisce Éireann’s Ronan Walsh, said, “Uisce Éireann and Waterford City and County Council understands the inconvenience caused when unplanned outages occur. I would like to assure customers that we are working hard to restore normal water supply as quickly as possible.”
