By using only what we need, we can all play our part in safeguarding our water for our future.
Water covers 71% of the planet but only 1% is available to us as drinking water. We share this precious resource with every animal and plant on Earth as well as using it every day in our homes and businesses. Although there is enough annual rainfall in Ireland, we are limited in how much water we can take from the environment. This, coupled with a growing population, climate change, leakage and an ageing infrastructure, means pressure on this precious resource is growing.
Household Water Conservation Charge
The Household Water Conservation Charge or Excess Use Charge is the consumption of water services above the threshold amount set by the Minister in accordance with the Water Services Act 2017. It is intended to promote conservation and personal responsibility for water use and to help Ireland meet the requirements of the Water Framework Directive.
Water conservation for your business
Reduce the amount of water you use in your business. You will save on bills while easing demand on your local water supply.
Through our programmes and sponsorships, we regularly engage with schools and communities throughout the country, raising awareness of water conservation and highlighting the serious problem of sewage related litter on Ireland’s beaches.
First Fix Free Scheme
If we have contacted you about a suspected leak on your external water supply pipe you may qualify for this scheme.
