Crews working to restore water supply in Clane area

16 October 2023

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann is working to restore water supply as quickly as possible to customers in the Clane area of Co. Kildare following a burst to a watermain this afternoon.

As a result of the burst, customers in the area from Clane to Duncreevan, Newtown, Johnstown Bridge, Carbury and parts of Derrinturn may experience low pressure and/or interruptions to their water supply. Dedicated water service crews are on the ground and repair works are expected to be completed by midnight.

It typically takes two to three hours following the estimated restoration time for normal water supply to fully return to all areas, especially those on higher ground. There may be some discolouration for a period of time as the supply returns.

Uisce Éireann regrets any inconvenience as a result of this issue.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes.

The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries. For updates please visit our Water Supply Updates section.
