Burst watermain impacting customers in Churchtown North, Ballintotis, Cork

Repairs to be completed midday Saturday 15

Uisce Éireann and Cork County Council are aware of a burst water main impacting approximately 600 customers in Churchtown North, Ballintotis and surrounding areas. 

Repairs

Repair works have been delayed due to the industrial strike action taking place on Thursday 13 and Friday 14 July. The leak has been isolated and final repairs to the water main are scheduled to be completed by midday Saturday 15 July to restore normal water supply for all impacted customers. 

Alternative water supplies

To support impacted customers, Uisce Éireann has arranged alternative water supplies of drinking water in the following locations from midday tomorrow, 14th July.

  • Leary and O’Mahoney’s Garage
  • Ballintotis Church
  • Two Mile Inn

Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure as per HSE advice.

 

Vulnerable customers

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes.

Our priority remains the protection of public health and the environment through the delivery of safe, secure and sustainable water services during this dispute and we will do everything within our power to maintain safe water services where possible.
