Uisce Éireann is progressing plans to modernise and upgrade the wastewater treatment plant in Virgina, Co. Cavan.
Uisce Éireann, working in partnership with Cavan County Council, is progressing plans to upgrade the Virginia Wastewater Treatment Plant. The upgrade of the Virginia Waste Water Treatment Plant is included in Uisce Éireann's 2020 to 2024 investment plan. A Feasibility study report has been completed which has identified specific operational issues with the plant together with options for their resolution.
Work is underway on the detailed design of the scheme following the appointment of Uisce Éireann’s design-build framework contractor. Following the completion of option reviews, environmental reporting, site investigations and detailed design a planning application will be forwarded to the planning authority for consideration. Uisce Éireann expects to deliver the upgrades within the 2020 to 2024 investment period.
