Peafield Water Mains Replacement

National Leakage Reduction Programme

Uisce Éireann in partnership with Limerick City and County Council has replaced problematic water mains on the Peafield, Monaleen and Newtown Roads, Ballycraheen, Limerick to provide a more reliable water supply, reduce high levels of leakage and improve water quality.

The works involved the replacement of over 2,360 metres of aged water mains. The programme to replace the water mains on the Peafield, Monaleen and Newtown Roads commenced on 26th October 2021. These works were carried out as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme.

The section of works took place on the Peafield Road between the N24 flyover and Newtown Mews/Monaleen Road, on the Monaleen Road from the Peafield Road Junction to the M7 bridge and on the Newtown Road from the Peafield Road Junction to approximately 300m before the Ballysimon roundabout.

The works also involved laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers’ property boundaries and connecting it to the customers’ water supply. Where the existing service connections on the public side are lead these were replaced as part of this improvement work.

The works were carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Shareridge Ltd. and were completed in early December.
