Customers thanked for their patience and co-operation during the repair works

Uisce Éireann crews have successfully completed repairs to a burst water impacting customers in the following areas of East Meath: Duleek, Lower Platin, Kilsharvan, Downstown, Rathdrinagh, the R152 and R150, and surrounding areas.

Following reports of a supply disruption, dedicated Uisce Éireann crews were immediately deployed and worked hard to restore normal water supply to impacted customers as quickly as possible.

Repairs were successfully completed and water supply is returning to customers, however, it may take a up to three hours for full supply to restore to all customers, especially those at the end of the network or on high ground.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Jamie Blacoe, Water Operations Lead at Uisce Eireann, acknowledged the impact on the community, adding: “On behalf of Uisce Éireann, I’d like to thank impacted stakeholders for their patience, co-operation, and assistance while we worked to complete the repairs as quickly as possible and regret the inconvenience”.

Uisce Éireann continues to appeal to customers to conserve water to help the network refill and restore normal supply to all customers. While handwashing remains a priority, simple water conservation efforts can have a big impact on reducing demand. Turning off the tap while brushing your teeth and shaving can save up to 6 litres of water per minute. Taking a shower instead of a bath or using a watering can rather than a hose when gardening can also make a big difference in water use. Previous Updates

Uisce Eireann has identified a large burst on a water main in Duleek. Crews are on the ground progressing repairs and every effort is being made to maintain supply to as many customers as possible.

To safely progress the repairs and restore supply, restrictions will be necessary until later this evening. During these hours, households and businesses may experience lower than normal pressure and/or intermittent water outages, especially those on higher ground or at the end of the network.

The burst is causing low pressure and outages for some customers in the following areas: Duleek, Lower Platin, Kilsharvan, Downstown, Rathdrinagh, the R152 and R150, and surrounding areas.

Every effort is being made to restore the water supply as quickly as possible, however, the repairs are complex due to the location of the burst and the presence of other underground services. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage.

Jamie Blacoe, Water Operations Lead at Uisce Éireann, commented: “We would like to assure customers in affected areas that we are working as quickly as possible to restore normal water supply for all customers. We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have and thank customers for their patience while we complete the works.”
