Enniscorthy Regional Water Supply Scheme

Water Supply Project

Uisce Éireann is almost complete works on a €19 million upgrade to the Enniscorthy Regional Water Supply Scheme.

Uisce Éireann is almost complete works on a €19 million upgrade to the Enniscorthy Regional Water Supply Scheme. The project which will benefit over 11,000 consumers, will ensure a reliable and sustainable water supply for Enniscorthy and surrounding areas, as well as allowing for future growth and development. David Walsh Civil Engineering Ltd. is delivering the project on behalf of Uisce Éireann.

The Enniscorthy water supply infrastructure had limited resilience, with deficient intake arrangements and undersized raw water mains, which has led to frequent outages and water quality issues for the Enniscorthy supply. The existing intake area at Clonhaston, which has now been replaced, was subject to flooding/damage on a regular basis and was restricted for operation.

The supply was on the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Remedial Action List (RAL), which identifies water supplies that are in need of improvement. As the project is near completion the supply has now been removed from the EPA’s RAL.
