Adrigole Water Mains Replacement
Uisce Éireann is carrying out leakage reduction works in Adrigole to provide a more reliable water supply for the community, while reducing leakage and water main bursts.
The works involve the replacement of 2,467 meters of old and damaged water mains prone to bursts with new modern pipes. The programme to replace the water mains in Adrigole will commence at the end of April. These works are being carried out as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme.
The section of works will take place along the R574 Adrigole Bridge to the Water Treatment Plant and Reservoir.
The works will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers’ property boundaries and connecting it to the customers’ water supply.
The works will be carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Ward and Burke Construction Ltd and are expected to be completed by July 2026
What are the benefits of the works?
The benefits of the leakage reduction works include:
- A Reliable Water Supply – Replacement of water mains and service connections will reduce the instances of bursts and water outages and will ensure a reliable supply of water to customers and local businesses in the area.
- Reduced Leaks – Replacement of water mains and service connections will eliminate existing leaks and reduce the amount of clean drinking water lost into the ground.
- Improved Operation and Maintenance – These works will deliver cost savings by providing improved water network operation that will require less maintenance in the future.
Will customers be affected by the works?
Areas of work will be limited to short sections to minimise impact on customers. Traffic management will be in place at this time, in the form of a stop / go system and road closure. However local and emergency traffic will always be maintained.
While the new water main is being connected, some short term planned water interruptions may be needed. The project team will keep customers informed with at least 48 hours notice in advance.
To support the surrounding community, some works will take place at night limiting impacts on daily activities and traffic flow.
We understand this type of work can be inconvenient and crews will make effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works may cause.
