Water supply returning in North Carlow and South Kildare after successful mains repair

Normal water supply is returning to Uisce Éireann customers in North Carlow and South Kildare following the successful repair of a burst water main which had caused an interruption to local homes and businesses.
Customers in Rathvilly, Bough, Cuckoo Corner, Slaney Bank, Ricketstown and surrounding areas in Co. Carlow and Castledermot, Moone and Timolin and surrounding areas in South Kildare were impacted by the burst.
Shane Aylward of Uisce Éireann thanked affected customers for their understanding while these repair works were being carried out. “Uisce Éireann acknowledges the disruption that can be caused by an unplanned interruption. We wish to thank customers in the area for their patience while these repairs were underway.”

Uisce Éireann is working to restore the water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers in North Carlow and South Kildare following a large burst on a watermain. The areas affected are Rathvilly, Bough, Cuckoo Corner, Slaney Bank, Ricketstown and surrounding areas in Co. Carlow and Castledermot, Moone and Timolin and surrounding areas in South Kildare.
Uisce Éireann’s Shane Aylward has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore full water supply as quickly as possible.
“The repairs are being conducted as quickly and as efficiently as possible but are complex due to the location and size of the burst. We understand the inconvenience an unplanned interruption can have on our customers and appreciate their patience as we work to return normal water supply as quickly as possible."
Every effort is being made to reduce the impact on homes and businesses and restore normal water supply as quickly as possible.
Repairs are expected to be completed later this afternoon; it may take two to three hours after this to restore normal supply to all customers affected by this unplanned interruption.
To ensure the safety of the crews carrying out the repairs to the burst and the safety of the public, traffic management will be in place and will be clearly signposted.
