Water supply returning to customers in Tipperary

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Uisce Éireann have restored normal operations to customers in both Dundrum, supplied by the Stooke Water Treatment Plant, as well as those in Clonmel supplied by the Monroe Water Treatment Plant following interruptions to supply at both plants earlier today.
While works have successfully been completed and both water treatment plants are back in production, it may take a number of hours for full supply to be restored to customers on higher ground and at the end of the network.

Meanwhile, water supply is returning to customers supplied by the Newport Public Water Supply.  While supply is returning to customers in Newport town, those in Farneigh, Kiloscully and the surrounding areas will continue to experience an interruption to the water supply as the network continues to refill.

It is expected that supply will return by tomorrow morning.

Alternative water supplies will be available in Killoscully from 5pm this evening. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.

Once supply is restored, customers are reminded that a boil water notice remains in place for customers supplied by the Newport Public Water Supply and customers are advised to boil water until further notice. Customers are reminded that the water is safe to consume once boiled.

Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty said: “We understand the disruption an unplanned outage like this can cause and would like to thank customers in both Dundrum and Clonmel for their patience while crews worked to repair the burst. We would like to assure customers supplied by the Newport Public Water Supply that we are working hard to restore full supply as quickly and safely as possible.”

Homes and businesses in Rossmore, Carhue, Clonulty, Camass, Deerpark, Cloney Harp, Ballagh, Ardmale, Lacey’s Cross, Goolds Cross, Nodstown, Regaile, Gaile and the surrounding areas may experience intermittent disruption or low water pressure as a result.

While the plant is now back operational, and supply is returning, supply is expected to be fully restored to all customers by approximately 8pm this evening.

Meanwhile, Uisce Éireann crews are responding to a separate issue in Clonmel, where some customers are experiencing outages following an interruption to supply at the Monroe Water Treatment Plant. Supply is expected to be restored by midday today.

Elsewhere, Uisce Éireann crews are working to restore water supply to customers in Newport. Following completion of works, customers are advised to allow 3–4 hours for normal supply to fully return.

Once supply is restored, customers are reminded that a boil water notice remains in place for customers supplied by the Newport Public Water Supply and customers are advised to boil water until further notice. Customers are reminded that the water is safe to consume once boiled.

Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply to all areas as quickly as possible.
