Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Water supply has been restored to Uisce Éireann customers in Achill this morning after an outage caused by a major leak on the network yesterday.
Customers in Currane and surrounding areas of Achill were impacted by outages and low pressure on Tuesday as a result of the leak.
Repairs, which proved complex, began yesterday evening and continued late into the night before water supply gradually returned to impacted homes and businesses overnight.
Colette Scahill, Uisce Éireann Water Operations Manager, thanked impacted customers for their patience and commended the efforts of crews who worked long into the night in difficult ground conditions to repair the leak.
"This was a complex leak on the network which required additional staff and specialist machinery to repair,” said Collete.
“We acknowledge the frustration caused to homes and businesses by unplanned outages, and we thank impacted customers for their co-operation while our repairs were underway.”
Typically, it can take three to four hours for normal supply to be fully restored to all properties after an unplanned outage. Customers located at the end of the network or on higher ground may experience longer restoration times as the system recharges.
Any customer who has not had their normal supply restored this morning should contact Uisce Éireann’s customer team on 1800 278 278.
