Water mains flushing taking place to safeguard water supply in North Sligo

11 January 2024

Uisce Éireann will commence water mains flushing and scouring to improve the water supply for customers in Grange, Cliffoney and surrounding areas in the coming days.

While works are ongoing customers in Groghagh, Kiltykere, Kilcat, Derry Road, Derry area, Grange Upperwood, Upperwood, Mountemple, Carns, Drumfad, Moneygold, Edenreagh, Cloysparra, Balincastle and The Willows may experience water supply interruptions and/or water discolouration for short periods from Friday 12 January and Friday, 19 January.

In thanking the public for their cooperation and patience Kevin Love, Regional Asset Operations Lead at Uisce Éireann explains: “These essential works may involve some short-term water shut offs. We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause."

The water supply should return to normal for the majority of customers a number of hours following flushing but it may take longer for the discolouration to clear in some isolated parts of the network. It is advisable to wait until the discolouration clears before drinking.
