Wastewater network upgrade to support new homes in Castletroy
Uisce Éireann is commencing a project to upgrade the wastewater network in Castletroy that will support the delivery of essential new homes and future development in the area.
The investment will increase capacity in the local network, helping to ensure the infrastructure needed to support a growing community is in place.
The works involve the installation of 1.2 kilometres of wastewater sewer main along Dublin Road, Monaleen Heights, Elm Road and Groody Road. Uisce Éireann’s Ciaran Ryan welcomed the delivery of the works “This project will help support the delivery of new homes and future development in Castletroy while strengthening the local wastewater network. By upgrading the infrastructure now, we are helping to deliver reliable, sustainable high-quality wastewater services and ensure the area is well placed to meet future needs”.
The works will be carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Ward and Burke Construction Ltd. and are expected to be complete in early summer 2027.
To safely and efficiently deliver these essential works, stop/go traffic management will be in place on Dublin Road from 8pm on Friday, 23 October until Monday, 26 October. Works will be carried out on a 24-hour basis during this period to minimise the overall duration of disruption and progress the project as quickly as possible.
Night-time works will then begin on Tuesday, 27 October, with a one-way traffic management system in place. The road will reopen during daytime hours, and local and emergency services access will be maintained at all times, and advance signage will be provided.
The project is being delivered as part of Uisce Éireann's Growth and Development Programme, which helps provide the infrastructure needed for new homes, sustainable growth and thriving communities.
Uisce Éireann is responsible for delivering public drinking water and wastewater services for the people of Ireland.
