Previous Updates

Following a burst to a large trunk water main this morning, Uisce Éireann is working to restore the water supply as quickly as possible to approximately 4000 customers in the Drogheda areas including: Dublin Road, Wheaton Hall Sunnys, Blackbush, Platin Road, Donore Industrial Estate and surrounding areas.

Water services engineers have been hard at work since early this morning and aim to have repairs completed by approximately 2pm, however, it may take two to three hours for normal supply to fully restore to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.

To support customers, Uisce Éireann has arranged an alternative water supply to be made available. The locations are:

  • Adjacent to The Black Bull pub, Dublin Road
  • John's Centra, Platin Road

The alternative supply will remain in place until normal supply is returned to all customers. Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from the tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure as per HSE advice.

Speaking about the unplanned outage, Water Operations Lead for Uisce Éireann, James O’Hagan said: “Unfortunately we were unable to completed the repair works this evening and a new section of watermains will be installed tomorrow. We aim to have the supply retuned to customers as soon as possible. We regret any inconvenience as a result of this issue and thank the local community for their patience.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
