Impacted customers thanked for their patience and co-operation during the repair works

Uisce Éireann crews have successfully completed repairs to burst on a high-pressure water main impacting customers in North County Dublin including Santry and Kinsealy.

Following reports of a supply disruption, dedicated Uisce Éireann and Fingal County Council crews were immediately deployed and worked hard to restore normal water supply to impacted customers as quickly as possible.

Repairs have successfully been completed and water supply is returning to customers, however, it may take several hours for full supply to restore to all customers due to the size of the network, especially for those at the end of the network or on high ground.

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Tselo Tlou, Water Operations Lead at Uisce Eireann, acknowledged the impact to customers, adding: “On behalf of Uisce Éireann, I’d like to thank customers who were impacted by his unplanned outage for their patience, co-operation, and assistance while we worked to complete the repairs as quickly as possible and regret any inconvenience caused”.

Uisce Éireann continues to appeal to customers to conserve water to help the network refill and restore normal supply to all customers. Turning off the tap while brushing your teeth and shaving can save up to 6 litres of water per minute. Taking a shower instead of a bath or using a watering can rather than a hose when gardening can also make a big difference in water use. Uisce Éireann is working with Fingal County Council to restore the water supply as quickly as possible to impacted customers in North County Dublin following a large burst to a high-pressure water main.

Expert water services crews have been dispatched to find and fix the burst and every effort is being made to reduce the impact on homes and businesses and restore water supply as quickly as possible.

Repairs are complex due to the location of the pipe and the presence of other underground services, however, crews have reconfigured the water network where possible to lessen the impact and maintain supply to as many customers as possible. As a result, some customers in the following areas may be impacted by disruptions to their water supply: Baskin Lane, Pinnock Hill, Coachmans, Stockhole Lane, Kinsealy, Santry, and surround areas in North County Dublin.

The works are estimated to be completed later tonight, however, it may take a number of hours following repairs for normal water supply to return to all customers due to the size of the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.

As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes.

Tselo Tlou, Uisce Éireann, commented: “The repairs are being conducted as quickly and as efficiently as possible to minimise disruption and restore the water supply to homes and businesses. We are appealing to customers to continue to conserve water where possible to help maintain reservoir levels. Turning off the tap while brushing your teeth and shaving can save up to 6 litres of water per minute. Taking a shower instead of a bath or using a watering can rather than a hose when gardening can also make a big difference in water use. Tselo acknowledge the inconvenience to impacted customers. adding: “We understand the inconvenience an unplanned outage can have on our customers and appreciate your patience as we work to return normal water supply as quickly as possible.
