Trim nighttime restrictions essential to maintain daytime supply

29 February 2024

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Appeal to customers to conserve water

Uisce Éireann advises customers in Trim and surrounding areas that an overnight restriction is essential to maintain a daytime supply.

The nighttime restriction will be in place from 10pm tonight, Thursday, 29 February until 6am tomorrow morning, Friday 1 March to allow local reservoir levels recharge.

Customers in the following areas may experience outages or reduced pressure: Trim, Rathmoylon, Knightsbrook, Scurlockstown, Effernock, Carberstown, Blackfriary, Crowpark, Clonbun, and surrounding areas. It can take two to three hours following restoration of pressure for normal supply to be fully restored to all areas.

Uisce Éireann’s Michael Cunniffe appealed to the public to conserve water during daytime hours.

Customers can help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible. Customers can also find lots of useful water saving tips on our Conservation page. This also includes an easy-to-use conservation calculator so you can work out how much water you are currently saving and how to conserve even more.

Uisce Éireann continues to monitor reservoir levels daily and will provide an update if further restrictions are needed.

Uisce Éireann continues with works to improve the water supply in Trim including interim upgrades at the treatment plant which are due for completion this year. This is in addition to a major project to upgrade and modernise the plant and address ongoing operational issues, meet demand, and ensure that the drinking water supplies meet requirements under the Drinking Water Regulations. Planning permission has been granted and, following additional consents and pre-construction works, it is envisaged that construction will commence in Q4. We will continue to provide updates on timelines as we progress the project.

The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on X @IWCare with any queries. For updates on local water supply issues, please visit the Water Supply Updates section of our webiste.
