Supply disruptions expected in areas of Achill after essential repairs

Uisce Éireann customers in Achill may be experiencing disruptions to their water supply this afternoon in the wake of essential repair works being carried out on the local network.

Customers in Na Sraithíní, Dereens, Cloughmore, An Corrán, Poll Raithní and surrounding areas may be affected by these supply disruptions while reservoirs are recharging in the wake of the leak repair works.

It is estimated that supply will return for impacted customers in these areas by approximately 7pm this evening.

Customers in the Dooega and Ashleam areas of Achill may be impacted by further supply disruptions, including intermittent outages and instances of reduced pressure, over the course of tomorrow (Saturday).

Colette Scahill, Uisce Éireann Water Operations Manager, said that areas on higher ground or at the end of the network will be most affected.

“Our crews successfully carried out essential repairs to two major leaks on the local network yesterday and today, but this has caused levels in the local reservoirs to drop. While the reservoirs recharge, some customers will experience disruptions to their supply.

“We understand the inconvenience caused by supply disruptions such as these and we thank impacted customers for their co-operation while we allow the reservoirs to replenish."
