Repair works completed at treatment plant supplying water to Fethard town

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann has completed repair works following an interruption at the Mullenbawn Water Treatment Plant. This has impacted on the water supply to customers in Fethard Town and surrounding areas.

It may take some time for water levels in the reservoir to recover and for the restoration of supplies to all customers. Crews have diverted supplies from the Fethard Regional Water Supply Scheme to the town while work was underway and to help recovery of water levels in the reservoir.

Colin Cunningham, Operations Lead for Uisce Éireann in Tipperary said:

We understand the inconvenience in particular that unplanned outages can have, and we thank people for their support. Supply should start to return to customers from approximately 2pm this afternoon. It typically takes two to three hours for normal supply to fully restore to all areas as the water refills the network, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. Uisce Éireann continues to provide detailed, real-time, and local information about water Service and Supply Issues on our website.
