Reduced water pressure in areas of north Dublin due to major water mains burst in Fingal

19 April 2024

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Following a burst to a major water main in the Blanchardstown area in early April, we are aware that some areas are still affected with intermittent low pressure. Extensive reconfiguration of the Water Supply network means that most customers haven’t seen any impact, however a number of customers may continue to experience slightly lower pressures than normal.

Following a deep excavation and specialist Condition Assessments, the extent of damage to the large pipe is significantly greater than originally envisaged, further complicating the repair.

Given the proximity to the river Tolka and the M3, consultation with relevant stakeholders is necessary prior to proceeding with further excavation works. An Incident Team has been stood up and additional pipe rehabilitation experts have been mobilised, to ascertain the most effective and efficient repair methodology.

Areas where customers may experience lower pressure include:

  • Carpenterstown
  • Castleknock
  • Laurel Lodge
  • Coolmine
  • Parts of Clonsilla

We would again like to thank our customers for their ongoing patience and understanding, we will continue to provide an update on repairs including a timeline as the works progress.

The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on X @IWCare with any queries. For updates on local water supply issues, please visit the Water Supply Updates section of www.water.ie.
