Uisce Éireann is asking customers on the Fethard Public Water Supply to be mindful of their water use with overnight restrictions now necessary to help maintain daytime supplies for local communities.
The current spell of warm weather has led to a significant increase in water use across the area, with demand exceeding the volume of water that can be treated and distributed.
To help reservoirs with treated water recover and protect daytime supplies, overnight restrictions will be in place for customers in Killenaule, Dualla, Gortnahoe, Glengoole, and surrounding areas from 8pm each evening to 7am the following morning, beginning tonight (Sunday) and continuing until Wednesday morning.
Uisce Éireann’s Pierce Faherty acknowledged the impact restrictions can have on homes and businesses but said these measures are necessary to help safeguard water supplies for the community.
“While raw water sources remain stable, the exceptionally high demand we have experienced in recent days is placing significant pressure on treated water supplies. Introducing nighttime restrictions will help reservoirs recover and support normal daytime supplies for homes, businesses and essential services across the area.
“We appreciate the patience and support of customers as we work to manage demand during this period of warm weather. By making small changes to water use, communities can play an important role in helping to protect local supplies.”

Elsewhere, Uisce Éireann is continuing to work to restore normal water supply to customers in Cashel and surrounding areas following an interruption at Farranamanagh Water Treatment Plant.
While repairs to the water treatment plant were completed yesterday, reservoir levels remain low and some customers may continue to experience low water pressure or intermittent supply disruptions until tomorrow morning (Monday, 13 July).
Nighttime restrictions will remain in place to support reservoir recovery and help maintain supply across the network.
Crews are working to fully restore normal operations as quickly as possible. To support impacted customers, alternative water supplies remain available at John the Baptist NS, Old Road, Cashel and at LIDL, Cahir Road, Cashel.
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
