Uisce Éireann wants to thank customers in impacted areas for their patience

Night-time water restrictions that were necessary in the Bantry and Kealkill area have now been lifted.

We acknowledge that customers in these areas may have experienced reduced pressure and/or outages and regret any inconvenience to the community, while reservoir levels worked to recover. Uisce Éireann wants to thank customers in impacted areas for their patience, while these restrictions were ongoing.

Uisce Éireann water services crews also completed repair works to burst watermains in the Bantry and Kealkill areas.

Even though the restrictions have been lifted, we can all continue to play our part in conserving water. It is important that we all consider our water usage and conserve water. We continue to encourage the public to report any visible leaks on the public network. The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries.

Previous Updates

Overnight restrictions are necessary for Uisce Éireann customers in Bantry and Kealkill over the coming nights to maintain a daytime supply for the community.

The restrictions will be in place from 10pm to 6am tonight, Saturday 30 March; tomorrow night, Sunday 31 March; and Monday night 1 April to allow local reservoir levels to recharge.

Customers in the following areas may experience outages or reduced pressure: Bantry and Kealkill and surrounding areas.

We understand the inconvenience that restrictions cause but they are necessary if we are to ensure we have a daytime supply for all our customers. We will continue to monitor the reservoir levels each day and we will provide an update if further restrictions are needed on Tuesday. We thank customers for their patience.

The majority of customers should have adequate storage in their attic tanks to provide for essential uses such as flushing toilets for the duration of this restriction. However, customers can help conserve water by not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and postponing using dishwashers and washing machines, where possible. Customers can find useful water saving tips on our website www.water.ie/conserve.
