Letterkenny water network upgrade to boost supply and support new housing

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Uisce Éireann will begin essential works next week to upgrade the water network in the Woodlands area of Letterkenny, boosting capacity to support new housing, while delivering a stronger and more reliable water supply for homes and businesses.

The works, located along the L1142 Lisnennan Road from the Castleblane junction to Woodland Park, will involve the replacement and upgrade of approximately 1.5km of water mains.

The project is being delivered as part of Uisce Éireann’s Leakage Reduction Programme and will strengthen the performance of the local network. Due to the nature of the works, a road closure will be required along sections of the route, with local access arrangements maintained.

As well as reducing the risk of bursts and leaks, the upgrade will increase network capacity to support new housing developments and meet growing demand in Letterkenny.

Patricia Lowry, Programme Manager with Uisce Éireann, said: “These works in Woodlands are an important investment in Letterkenny’s water network. As well as reducing the risk of bursts and interruptions, this upgrade will increase capacity to support new housing and future growth in Letterkenny. We would like to thank the local community for their patience while we deliver these essential improvements.”

Farrans Construction will deliver this important project on behalf of Uisce Éireann with completion of the upgrade expected in late autumn this year.
