Essential overnight restrictions required in Tallow/Tallow Hill and Ballyduff Upper

19 January 2024

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann advises customers in Tallow/Tallow Hill and Ballyduff Upper that essential overnight water restrictions will be required tonight to increase reservoir levels and maintain a sufficient supply to homes and businesses during the day, following exceptionally high demand this week.

As a result, customers in Ballyduff Upper and Tallow/ Tallow Hill may experience temporary, reduced pressure and/or outages from 11pm tonight, Friday 19 January until 8am tomorrow morning.

Following the restriction, it may take two to three hours for normal supply to fully restore to all areas, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network. Anyone who experiences further issues with discolouration are asked to run the cold water tap in the kitchen for a few minutes. Doing this usually clears any unusual colour. Further information on discoloured water is available at https://www.water.ie/help/water-quality/discoloured-water/

Uisce Éireann will continue to closely monitor reservoir levels and will provide a further update if further restrictions are required.

Uisce Éireann’s Maura Phelan said: “Crews are working hard to restore the reservoirs to safe levels and avoid further restrictions over the weekend. We are also asking the public to do what they can to conserve water during this time by turning off taps and checking for leaks in outside taps or unoccupied premises. If anyone notices a leak in the public network they should report it to Uisce Éireann via www.water.ie or by calling 1800 278 278.
