Essential night-time water restrictions introduced to protect water supplies in Offaly

Essential night-time water restrictions will be introduced tonight for customers in Tully, Rahan and Lisduff in Co Offaly to help protect daytime water supplies for homes, businesses, farms and essential services.

The restrictions will be in place from 10pm until 6am each night from tonight (Monday, 13 July) and will remain in effect until further notice.

The continued warm weather and seasonal demand have increased pressure on local water supplies, resulting in treated water reservoir levels falling faster than they can recover overnight. The overnight restrictions are necessary to allow treated water reservoirs to replenish and help maintain reliable daytime water supplies.

Night-time restrictions are already in place in other counties across the country as water supplies continue to come under pressure following a prolonged period of warm, dry weather. These measures are being introduced to help protect local supplies and reduce the risk of more significant disruptions.

Customers in Tully, Rahan, Lisduff and surrounding areas may experience low water pressure or temporary interruptions to supply during the restriction period.

James Joyce, Water Operations Manager, said: "We understand that night-time restrictions can be disruptive for customers, but these measures are necessary to help treated water reservoir levels recover overnight and ensure communities continue to have access to water throughout the day."

Customers are encouraged to reduce non-essential water use where possible, check for leaks on their properties and report any leaks on the public water network to Uisce Éireann's 24/7 customer care team on 1800 278 278.
