Essential maintenance works to safeguard water supply taking place in West Donegal

Uisce Éireann’s efforts to safeguard water supply for homes and businesses in West Donegal is continuing, with essential maintenance works taking place next week.

Crews will carry out important reservoir cleaning works at Croithlí Water Treatment Plant on Monday, 1 December. Then on Tuesday and Wednesday works will continue at reservoirs in the Leitir Mhic an Bhaird, An Machaire, Port Nua, Ros Beag, and surrounding areas, and customers in these locations may experience supply disruptions while the works are underway. 

Works will be carried out between 8am and 6pm and crews will endeavour to complete the essential cleaning works and restore the supply to normal levels as quickly as possible.

Speaking about the maintenance works, Uisce Éireann’s Damien O’Sullivan said: "These cleaning works of our reservoirs are necessary to continue to provide a safe and reliable supply to customers. The majority of customers will see their water supply return within a few hours while those on elevated sites may continue to experience an intermittent supply until later in the evening while the network fully recharges, and reservoir levels replenish. Some customers may also experience discolouration in their supply as reservoirs return to normal service, but this will be for a short period only.”
