Delivering for Dunmanway as wastewater network upgrade begins

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Uisce Éireann is commencing an upgrade of the wastewater network in Dunmanway, delivering improved performance and reducing the risk of sewer flooding for the local community.

Beginning next week, the project will include the installation and upgrade of over 1.25km of sewer mains, improving the resilience of the network and supporting a more reliable and sustainable wastewater service locally.

Works will take place at Quarry Road and Long Bridge Pumping Stations, alongside the construction of new sewer infrastructure at Northbank and Brookpark. A key driver of the project is to reduce overflows from combined sewer overflows in Dunmanway town, helping to protect water quality in the Bandon River.

Uisce Eireann Programme Manager, Colm Claffey, welcomed the commencement of the works: “This investment will deliver long term benefits for Dunmanway. Once completed, the upgraded network will reduce the likelihood of sewer flooding, limit overflows during heavy rainfall and contribute to improved environmental water quality.”

The works are being delivered on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Ward and Burke Construction Ltd. and are scheduled for completion in December 2027.

Traffic management will be in place at Sackville Street and on the R599. Local and emergency traffic will always be maintained.
