Update 17:30pm 05 January

Uisce Eireann crews continue to work on repairs to a burst water main impacting customers in Julianstown, Gormanstown and surrounding areas in Co Meath. Crews are progressing repairs and every effort is being made to maintain supply to as many customers as possible, however a second burst has occurred which has impacted the restoration of supply.

The burst is causing low pressure and outages for some customers in Julianstown, Gormanstown, Whitecross, Ballygarth Manor, R132 and surrounding areas.

Repairs are expected to be completed by tomorrow afternoon, however, crews will make every effort to complete the repairs as quickly as possible. Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage, especially those on higher ground or at the end of the network.

Michael Cunniffe, Water Operations Lead at Uisce Éireann, commented: “We would like to assure customers in affected areas that we are working as quickly as possible to restore normal water supply for all customers. We understand the inconvenience unplanned outages can have and thank customers for their patience while we complete the works.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
