Crews working to repair Carrick-on-Shannon burst

04 April 2024

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section.

Uisce Éireann is working to restore water supply to customers in Carrick-on-Shannon following a burst this morning.

Every effort is being made to maintain water supply to as many customers as possible, however, the burst is impacting some customers in the Cortober area of Carrick-on-Shannon.

Repair works are progressing and are estimated to be completed by 5pm this evening, however, it may take a number of hours following repairs for normal water supply to return to all customers, especially for those on higher ground or at the end of the network.

As per best practice, most homes and businesses will have on-site water storage to provide a backup source of water for sanitation purposes.

Uisce Éireann’s Ger Greally commented: “The repairs are being conducted as quickly and as efficiently as possible to minimise disruption and restore the water supply to homes and businesses. We understand the inconvenience an unplanned outage can have on our customers and appreciate their patience as we work to return normal water supply as quickly as possible.”

Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Uisce Éireann continues to provide detailed, real-time, and local information about water Service and Supply Issues on our website. The Uisce Éireann customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on X @IWCare with any queries.
