Water supply restored for homes and businesses in Leixlip, Maynooth and Celbridge

Water is now returning to homes and businesses in Leixlip, Maynooth, Celbridge and surrounding areas after Uisce Éireann crews successfully repaired a major burst on a water main in the area.
The burst, which occurred on the R148 Maynooth Road outside Leixlip this morning, required extensive repair works by specialist crews working around the clock to restore normal water supply as quickly and safely as possible.
Eoghan Forristal, Uisce Éireann, said: “We know that losing your water supply can be difficult and disruptive for families, businesses and communities, and we are very grateful to everyone affected for their patience and understanding while repairs were carried out.
“We are pleased to have supply returning, and we appreciate the efforts people made to conserve water while repairs were underway. Community support and cooperation made a real difference.”
Customers may experience lower than normal pressure, temporary discolouration or intermittent supply for a short period while the network refills. This is normal and should improve as the system stabilises.
Our teams will continue to monitor the network closely to ensure supply returns to normal across all affected areas. Vulnerable customers who are registered with us receive direct communications for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Customers and businesses in Leixlip, Maynooth, Celbridge and surrounding areas may experience disruptions to their water supply today following a burst water main on the R148 Maynooth Road outside Leixlip. Our crews are on site carrying out repairs and every effort is being made to restore normal service as quickly and safely as possible.

Repairs are expected to be completed by 4pm this afternoon. Once repairs have been completed, water supplies will return gradually over the following hours. Customers in higher-lying areas or at the ends of the network may experience a longer wait while the water network refills.
To keep our crews and the public safe while repairs are underway, traffic management measures will be in place and clearly signposted. We thank local residents and road users for their cooperation.
