Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Uisce Éireann crews are working to repair a burst watermain in Ballyhooly, County Cork. The unplanned outage may cause supply disruptions to customers in Ballyellis, Shannballymore, Ballyhooly and surrounding areas. Works are expected to be completed by 6pm this evening.
A water tanker is in place at Ballyhooly GAA pitch from 3pm today (Monday 16 February). Customers are reminded to bring their own containers when taking water from the tanker and to boil the water before consumption as a precautionary measure, as per HSE advice.
Michael Bell, Water Network Operations Manager, Uisce Éireann said: “We understand the inconvenience caused when customers experience an interruption to their water supply, and we appreciate the community’s patience as we work to restore water supply to impacted customers as quickly as possible.”
Typically, it takes three to four hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges. Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.
Our customer care team is available to help 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries. Customers are also urged to report visible leaks on the public network. Uisce Éireann is responsible for delivering public drinking water and wastewater services for the people of Ireland.
