Repairs ongoing to restore supply in An Spidéal.

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Customers in Galway can be assured that our crews are continuing to repair two separate bursts in the city and in An Spidéál this lunchtime.

A burst on a water main in the Sceilg Ard area of the Headford Road in Galway city is impacting supply to homes and businesses in the area. Uisce Éireann customers in Tirellan Heights, Ballinfoyle Park and Sceilg Ard may be experiencing disruptions to their supply today as a result of this burst.

Separately, a burst on a water main in An Spidéal is affecting supply to homes and businesses in the town.

Crews are currently on site working to repair both bursts and it is estimated that normal supply will be restored in both areas by 5pm this afternoon.

Tony Kelly of Uisce Éireann said: “Our crews have successfully isolated these bursts and are currently working to repair the mains and restore normal supply.
"In the case of the Headford Road burst, we have diverted water to maintain supply in the city centre. We hope to have normal supply restored to all customers affected by these bursts by this evening."

Following an outage, it can take some time for the water network to fully recharge, particularly for customers on higher ground or at the end of the network. Customers may also experience temporary issues such as reduced pressure and airlocking as supplies return.

Updates are available on the Water Supply Updates section of our website.

Uisce Éireann crews are responding to two separate bursts on water mains in Co Galway this morning, both of which are impacting supplies to customers.

In Galway city, crews are mobilising to the location of a burst main on the Headford Road, which is causing disruption to supply for homes and businesses in the Headford Road area, and into the city centre. Among the other areas affected are Tirellan Heights, Ballinfoyle Park and Sceilg Ard.

Elsewhere, a separate burst on a main in An Spidéal is causing supply disruption to customers in the area this morning.

Tony Kelly of Uisce Éireann said works to isolate and repair both bursts will begin shortly and every effort will be made to restore supply to impacted customers as soon as possible.

"We are dealing with two separate bursts in Co Galway this morning, both of which are affecting supply to customers. We will know more about the nature of the bursts and the estimated repair times once we have investigated further," said Tony.

“We understand the frustration of unplanned outages for homes and businesses, and we want to thank impacted customers for their patience while our crews work to resolve these issues."
