Supply returning after successful repair of Old Dublin Road burst

Supply is returning to normal levels for Uisce Éireann customers in the Old Dublin Road area of Galway City who were impacted by disruptions as a result of a burst main in the area this morning.
A burst in the vicinity of the G Hotel early this morning caused homes and businesses on the Old Dublin Road, Wellpark, and surrounding areas to experience intermittent outages and other supply disruptions over the course of the morning.
Uisce Éireann crews responded to the site of the burst from early morning and repairs to the burst main were successfully completed at approximately 1pm.
The local network is now recharging and supply will return to normal levels for all impacted homes and businesses this afternoon.
Teresa Burke of Uisce Éireann tanked impacted customers for their understanding while repairs were in progress.
“We acknowledge the frustration that can be caused by an unplanned outage such as this, and we wish to thank customers for their patience while our crews worked to restore supply as quickly as possible,” said Teresa.
Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

Uisce Éireann crews are responding to a burst water main on the Old Dublin Road to the east of Galway city this morning.
The burst has occurred on a water main outside the G Hotel and is impacting supply to homes and businesses in the area. Customers on the Old Dublin Road and in Wellpark may be experiencing intermittent outages or other supply disruptions this morning as a result of this burst.
Uisce Éireann crews have mobilised to the site of the burst to begin their repairs. Some traffic management measures will be required at the site in order for the repairs to be carried out safely and efficiently. It is estimated that repairs will be completed and supply restored by 6pm this evening.
Teresa Burke of Uisce Éireann said all efforts will be made to repair the burst main and restore normal supply as quickly as possible.
“Our crews are currently on site working to isolate the burst and begin their repairs,” said Teresa.
“We acknowledge the impact of an unplanned outage for customers, and we wish to thank residents and business owners affected by this outage for their patience and cooperation while we work to restore supply.”
