Crews responding to burst main at Carnmore

Uisce Éireann crews are responding to a burst on a water main on the Monivea Road at Carnmore, Co Galway, which is impacting supply to homes and businesses in the area this morning.

The outage is affecting customers in the Carnmore area, including a number of local Group Water Schemes, including the Castlelambert, Carraun/Castle Ellen, Grange, Carnmore no.3, Cartymore, Casla Nos.1 & 2, and Moorpark Nos.1 & 2 schemes.

Crews are currently mobilising to the site to isolate the burst main and begin their repairs.

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.   

Ger Greally of Uisce Éireann said crews will make every effort to repair the burst and restore normal supply for affected homes and businesses as quickly as possible.

“This is a significant burst on the water main, but our crews are mobilising to the site to begin their repairs now,” said Ger.

“We understand the impact of an unplanned outage for our customers, and we want to thank affected customers for their patience while these repair works are being carried out.”
