Water supplies returning to normal levels of service for most customers
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
- Uisce Éireann teams will continue engaging with all stakeholders to support customers still without water and expedite return of normal service
- Alternative water supplies and tankers will remain in place to support communities as supplies return
Water has now been restored to the majority of homes and businesses which were impacted by Storm Éowyn. Uisce Éireann teams will continue their efforts to restore supply to any remaining areas, as well as carrying out business-as-usual repair and maintenance works on the network.
There are less than 800 premises across the country remaining without water supply this lunchtime. We are aware of the continuing impact the supply disruption is having on these communities and our crews will continue to do everything possible to expedite the return of normal service.
In areas where water has not yet returned, alternative water supplies will remain in place to support local communities, including those on private wells and group water schemes. We are continuing to liaise with Local Co-ordination Groups and Emergency Response Hubs in areas where these have been established, as well as the Civil Defence. Updates on the location of alternative water supplies and other supply updates are available on the Uisce Éireann website. Crews are also tankering water directly to the reservoirs or into the network where required.
Generators have been installed at all of the plants, pumping stations and reservoirs where it is feasible to do so and our crews continue to operate and maintain these. We are continuing to work closely with the ESB to prioritise the restoration of electricity supply in the remaining locations and thank them for their ongoing support.
Uisce Éireann is also reminding customers to continue to conserve water where possible as supplies return in order to allow reservoir levels to recover. There are some simple steps people can take to conserve their water, such as avoiding the use of water-intensive appliances during this time.
