Crews complete repair to burst watermain in Listowel

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Uisce Éireann crews have responded to a major burst and repaired a watermain close to Listowel Water Treatment Plant and water supply is returning to customers.

The unplanned outage which occurred yesterday evening resulted in customers in Moyvane, Knockanure and Tarbert experiencing a disruption to their water supply.

Uisce Éireann’s John Fitzgerald said: “We understand the inconvenience that unplanned outages can have. Crews worked yesterday and late last night to complete the work as quickly as possible. However, the burst did prove difficult to fix due to its location.”  Typically, it takes three to four hours following repairs for normal supply to be restored to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.

Customers in Moyvane, Knockanure and Tarbert, all served by the Listowel Water Treatment Plant, will experience a disruption to their water supply this evening.

Uisce Éireann’s John Fitzgerald explained crews were mobilised within minutes of the burst and are working to return supply as quickly as possible.

“Unfortunately, it is a significant burst and is proving difficult to fix due to its location, but we are currently working to repair it and get a full supply back to homes and businesses as soon as possible.
