Uisce Éireann is advising customers supplied by the Allenwood Reservoir in Kildare that low levels at the reservoir will impact water supplies to customers overnight.
Extremely high demand on the network has led to water levels in the Allenwood Reservoir falling to critically low levels over the last seven days. As a result, flows at the plant will be reduced from approximately 9pm tonight to allow for levels to replenish.
Areas impacted will include Coill Dubh, Prosperous, Derrinturn, Kilmeage, Robertstown, Allenwood, and surrounding areas.
Normal supply is expected to resume from approximately 7am tomorrow morning (Saturday). It may take up to 24 hours for normal supply to return to customers in some areas.
Uisce Éireann’s Eoghan Forristal has assured customers that every effort is being made to restore a full water supply as quickly as possible.
“We understand the inconvenience of an outage and we thank customers for their support while we allow reservoir levels to replenish. We expect that normal supply will be returning to customers from approximately 7am on Saturday,” said Eoghan.
Typically, it takes two to three hours for normal supply to restore to customers affected by supply disruptions. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers at the end of the network or on higher ground as the system recharges.
