Crews advise of planned outage for customers in Maynooth and Straffan on Friday

Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section

Uisce Éireann is carrying out essential works to the water network on the Celbridge Road in Maynooth. To facilitate these works, a water outage is necessary.

Works will take place from 1pm until 5pm on Friday, 17 April, and may result in a disruption of supply or loss of pressure for Uisce Éireann customers in the Maynooth and Straffan area.

These works are part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme, fixing leaks and replacing old, damaged pipes, to provide a safer more reliable supply of water to homes and businesses.

Uisce Éireann’s Nicola Butler thanked affected customers for their co-operation ahead of the essential works tomorrow.

“We wish to acknowledge the inconvenience caused by a planned outage and assure affected customers that crews will complete the works as quickly as possible to restore normal water supply on Friday afternoon,” said Nicola.

The essential works will strengthen the water supply network in Maynooth and surrounding areas, reduce disruption to homes and businesses and improve the operational performance of the water network.

Typically, it takes two to three hours following repairs for normal supply to restore to all customers. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.

This project is one example of how Uisce Éireann works every day to reduce leaks. With more than 65,000 km of underground pipes nationally- enough to circle the earth one and a half times - fixing leaks can be complicated. Many are hidden, but we are making progress: National leakage is now at its lowest level ever, reduced from 49% in 2014 to 36% today.
