Water returning to customers supplied by the Ardfinnan Water Supply Scheme
Information below is relevant until further updates are provided here or on our Supply and Service Updates section
Water is returning to customers supplied by the Ardfinnan Water Supply Scheme following operational issues at the Goatenbridge Water Treatment Plant, which resulted in an interruption to water production.
Restoring full production at the water treatment plant yesterday and through the night proved very challenging. However, we can confirm production has resumed and the reservoirs and network are refilling. As the water supply is restored across the scheme, we are asking customer to only use what they need at this time.
Supply is now returning, with normal water supply expected to return across the scheme by 6pm this evening. However, it may take longer for water to be restored to customers at the end of the network or in elevated areas.
Alternative water supplies remain in place in Ardfinnan Village, Newcastle Village, Grange Village, Newchapel, Knocklofty, Cahir Park Football Club, Castle Car Park and on Mitchelstown Road opposite the garage.
Customers are reminded to use their own containers when taking water from tankers and to boil water before consumption as a precautionary measure.
Customers on the Ardfinnan Regional Water Supply Scheme are also reminded that the Boil Water Notice remains in place and should continue to be followed as water is restored to homes, businesses and community services.
Pierce Faherty, Water Treatment Operations Manager at Uisce Éireann, said:
"We understand the ongoing challenges being experienced by our customers on the Ardfinnan Water Supply and know how inconvenient an unexpected interruption to water supply can be. Our crews have worked tirelessly to restore supply following a deterioration in raw water quality in the source water, which triggered an automatic shutdown at the treatment plant and interrupted water production.
While water is now returning to customers, reservoir levels remain low and it will take time for the network to fully recover. We would like to thank customers for their patience, understanding and cooperation while our teams worked to restore supply as quickly and safely as possible."
Supporting customers, especially those who may be more vulnerable during service interruptions, remains a priority. Registered vulnerable customers receive direct communications from Uisce Éireann for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.

Previous Updates
Customers and businesses across the Ardfinnan Regional Water Supply, in Tipperary are experiencing disruption to their water supply today as our crews work to rebuild water levels in the treated water reservoirs.
High turbidity in the raw water triggered an automatic shutdown at the Goatenbridge plant last night, interrupting water production. As a result, treated water levels in reservoirs and across the network are very low. Our operational teams are on site working to restore the plant to full production, but it will take time to replenish water levels.
Areas on the Ardfinnan Public Water Supply that may be impacted include Ardfinnan Village, Lady's Abbey, Castle View Estate, Ashfield Manor Estate, Mount Carmel, Lady's Abbey Estate, Gormanstown, Ballyhist, Castlegrace, Roosca, Cranna, Ros na Gréine Estate, Magherareagh, Newcastle, Poulatar, Graigue, Mount Anglesby, Nedeens and surrounding areas.

We really appreciate everyone in the community bearing with us while our crews get water back to homes and businesses."
It is expected that crews will have the plant back up to full production in the coming hours with treated water reservoirs and the network beginning to refill later this evening, Wednesday 7 October,
Water supplies will return gradually; however, it is likely that fully supply will not return to all customer until tomorrow morning, Thursday 8 October due to the size of the reservoirs and extent of the Ardfinnan network. Customers in higher-lying areas or at the ends of the network may experience a longer wait while the water network refills.
Customers on the Ardfinnan Regional Water Supply are reminded that as water is restored to homes, businesses and community services that the Boil Water Notice remains in place.
