Uisce Éireann has determined that Appropriate Assessments (AA) of the 'Water and Hydrographic Sampling Programs at Lough Derg (the works)' and 'Site investigation Works at Garryhinch Bog (the works)' are not required as it has been determined on the basis of objective scientific information that the works, individually or in combination with other plans or projects, will not have a significant effect on any European site. This decision has had regard to the potential for in-combination effects from other plans and projects, including existing recreational activities on Lough Derg.

Uisce Éireann's conclusion that AA's are not required was informed by the documents linked below.

This Screening for Appropriate Assessment assesses the effects of the proposed Ground Investigation works on European Sites, comprising candidate Special Areas of Conservation (SACs) and Special Protection Areas (SPAs), in-combination with other plans and projects. This AA screening report found that there is no potential for any likely significant effects on European sites from the Ground Investigation works.

This Screening for Appropriate Assessment assesses the effects of the Meteorological Monitoring Masts on European sites. In particular the Screening assessed the potential for the Masts to result in likely significant effects, which could lead to potential adverse effects on the integrity of European sites. . This AA screening report found that there is no potential for any likely significant effects on European sites from the Ground Investigation works.
