Two Mile House Water Network Upgrade

Uisce Éireann is constructing new water infrastructure in Two Mile House, Co Kildare to support future growth and development in the area.

We recently completed the first phase of works, where 4.2km of new water mains were constructed in stages between Two Mile House Village; Two Mile House to R448; R448 to Mullacash Middle; and Mullacash Middle to Swordlestown North.

The second phase of work involves the installation/upgrade of 10.8 kilometres of water mains to cater for the future growth and development of the wider Newbridge area. These works are being carried out as part of Uisce Éireann’s Growth and Development Programme and are expected to commence in April 2026.

This project is being delivered to support existing and future developments within the community. It will improve the supply capacity of the existing water network in the area, improving performance and reducing demands on the current network.

The section of works will start outside Two Mile House on the Corbally Road (L2032) working towards Harbour Road from 7 April to the end of May. Stop/Go traffic management will be in operation.

Works will then proceed onto Harbour Road. A road closure will be in operation for the work on Harbour Road from early June to the end of August.

Works will then proceed from Harbour Road onto Great Connell from late August, onto the junction of Great Connell road and turning right towards Little Connell.

Further information will be provided on each phase of the project as works progress.

Diversion routes will be clearly signposted. Local access will be maintained for homeowners along the affected routes.

The works will be carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Shareridge Ltd. and are expected to be completed late 2027.

What are the benefits of the works?

The benefits of these water network works include:

  • Supporting social and economic development – This project will facilitate social and economic growth.
  • Improving the water infrastructure to facilitate future demand – This project will ensure the required capacity of the water infrastructure to support future development in the area.
  • Improving the water network – This project will upgrade the water network, increasing the capacity to deliver reliable, sustainable high-quality water services.

Will customers be affected by the works?

Works will require localised lane and road closures, which will be phased to minimise disruption to the community.

Traffic management will be communicated locally in advance of each phase commencing.

The works may involve some short-term water interruptions, and the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to any planned water interruptions.

We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause.
