Trim Water Treatment Plant - New Dissolved Air Flotation and Filtration (DAFF) system
Uisce Éireann is commissioning a new Dissolved Air Flotation and Filtration (DAFF) system at Trim Water Treatment Plant (WTP).
The existing Dissolved Air Flotation and Filtration (DAFF) treatment system at Trim WTP is being decommissioned and replaced with a new DAFF treatment system. Working with our delivery partners, the new treatment system will include a capital investment of approximately €1.5 million. The commissioning works will require a testing period and the new treatment system will be operational from mid-February 2025.

What are the benefits of these works?
The works carried out as part of this project will improve the reliability and resilience of the Water Treatment Plant and benefit over 12,000 customers in the community.
What is happening next?
The commissioning works will commence in mid-January 2025, and following a testing period, the new DAFF treatment system will be operational by mid-February 2025. All works will be contained within Trim Water Treatment Plant.
Due to critically low levels of water at the reservoir and to maintain a daytime supply for customers, Uisce Éireann will implement tankering of water to the treatment plant to maintain supply and facilitate commissioning of the new process. Night-time restrictions will be in place for the duration of the works.
The works may involve some short-term water interruptions and the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to any planned water interruptions. Customers are urged to conserve water for the duration of the works.

The upgrade of the Trim Water Treatment Plant is programmed to commence in 2025, subject to the completion of procurement of the contractor to deliver the works. Uisce Éireann will continue to deliver proactive updates to the community as we progress through the regulatory requirements throughout 2025. In advance of construction, proactive communications will be delivered to key stakeholders and elected representatives in the local community.
