Trim Water Treatment Plant - New Dissolved Air Flotation and Filtration (DAFF) system

Uisce Éireann has commissioned a new Dissolved Air Flotation and Filtration (DAFF) system at Trim Water Treatment Plant (WTP).

The existing Dissolved Air Flotation and Filtration (DAFF) treatment system at Trim WTP was decommissioned and replaced with a new DAFF treatment system. The new treatment system includes a capital investment of approximately €1.5 million.

What are the benefits of these works?

The works carried out as part of this project will improve the reliability and resilience of the Water Treatment Plant and benefit over 12,000 customers in the community.

What is happening next?

The commissioning works commenced in mid-January 2025, and following a testing period, the new DAFF treatment system was operational by mid-February 2025. All works were contained within Trim Water Treatment Plant.

The big picture

This project was an interim measure to safeguard the water supply and improve reliability and resilience of the water network. The €20 million upgrade of the Trim Water Treatment Plant Uisce Éireann commenced construction in June 2025. The project, which will benefit over 12,000 customers, will address operational issues at the plant and water quality risks, as well as safeguarding water supply for homes and businesses in Trim who have frequently experienced disruption from outages.
