Straid, Clonmany Water Mains Replacement

National Leakage Reduction Programme

Uisce Éireann, in partnership with Donegal County Council carried out leakage reduction works in Straid, Clonmany, Co. Donegal which provided a more reliable water supply and reduced high levels of leakage.

The works involved the replacement of over 639 Meters of problematic water mains with new modern pipes. The programme which replaced the water mains in Straid, Clonmany commenced in late November. These works carried out as part of Uisce Éireann's National Leakage Reduction Programme.

The section of works took place on the L1551, with a traffic diversion in place. This road closure runs from Clonmany Fireplace Centre for 650m past Urris GAA club as far as St Columbas Church, Straid.

The works also involved laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries and connected it to the customers' water supply.

The works were carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Farrans Construction and were completed by May 2025.
