Mullenoran, Bunbrosna, Co. Westmeath

Uisce Éireann in partnership with Westmeath County Council is replacing ageing, problematic water mains, prone to bursts, in Mullenoran, Bunbrosna, Co. Westmeath to provide a more reliable water supply and reduce high levels of leakage.

Details of the project

The works involve the replacement of approximately 506m of aged problematic water mains with new modern high density polyethyelene pipes. The programme to replace the water mains in Mullenoran, Bunbrosna, Co. Westmeath will commence in August 2021. These works are being carried out as part of Uisce Éireann’s National Leakage Reduction Programme.

The section of watermain to be replaced extends from Mullenoran Bridge for approximately 506m towards the R393.

The works will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers’ property boundaries and connecting them to the customers’ water supply. Where the existing service connections on the public side are lead these will be replaced as part of these improvement work.

• Improved Operation and Maintenance – These works will deliver efficiencies including cost savings by providing improved water network operation that will require less maintenance in the future.

Will customers be affected by the works?

Areas of work will be limited to short sections to minimise impact on customers. Traffic management will be in place during this time. Works will be completed under a local road closure on Monday 23rd August 2021 to Friday 10th September 2021 inclusive. During the works a diversion will be in place via the N4, R394 and R393. Local and emergency access will be maintained at all times.

The works may involve some short-term water outages and the project team will ensure that customers are given a minimum of 48 hours’ notice prior to any planned water outages.

We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause.
