Maryborough Ridge Wastewater Network Upgrade

Uisce Éireann is upgrading the wastewater infrastructure at Maryborough Ridge, Douglas, Co Cork to support future growth and development in the area.

The works involve the installation and upgrade of over 600 metres of sewer mains to cater for the future growth and development of the Douglas area.  These works are expected to commence in mid-April 2026. 

The section of works will take place along Delford Drive, Rochestown Road and Rochestown Rise, Douglas, Co Cork.

This project is being delivered to support existing and future developments within the community. It will improve the capacity of the existing wastewater network in the area, improving performance and reducing demands on the current network.

The works will be carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by Ward and Burke Construction Ltd and are expected to be completed in June 2026.

What are the benefits of the works?

The benefits of these wastewater network works include:

  • Supporting social and economic development – This project will facilitate social and economic growth, including planned residential development.
  • Improving the wastewater network – This project will upgrade the wastewater network, increasing the capacity to deliver reliable, sustainable high-quality wastewater services for the community.
  • Reducing the risk of sewer overflow – This project will improve the capacity of the existing sewers, improving performance and reducing the risk of sewer flooding in the area.

Will customers be affected by the works?

To deliver these works safely and efficiently, traffic management in the form of flagmen will be in place. Works will be carried out by day on Delford Drive and Rochestown Rise. Standard working hours are 7am to 7pm.

Works along Rochestown Road will be carried out by night. Working hours are 7pm to 7am.

We understand that this type of work can be inconvenient and works crews will make every effort to minimise any disruption these necessary works cause.
