Irishtown Water Main Replacement

National Leakage Reduction Programme

Uisce Éireann has replaced ageing water mains in Irishtown, Dublin 4 to improve security of supply and reduce high levels of leakage.

The works involved the replacement of approximately 3.4 kilometres of problematic cast iron water mains with high density polyethylene (plastic) pipes. These works have been carried out as part of Uisce Éireann's national Leakage Reduction Programme. The communities to benefit from these improvement works are:

O'Connell Gardens

Cambridge Court (Apts)

Malone Gardens

Bath Avenue Gardens

Derrynane Gardens

O'Rahilly House (Flats)

Ennis Grove

Thorncastle Street

Pembroke Cottages

Cambridge Square

Cambridge Road

Fitzwilliam Street

The works will also involve laying new water service connections from the public water main in the road to customers' property boundaries and connecting it to the customers' water supply. Where the existing service connections on the public side are lead these will be replaced as part of this improvement work.

The works were carried out on behalf of Uisce Éireann by GMC Utilities Group Ltd
