Glenbeha and Fanure Water Treatment Plant Upgrades
Uisce Eireann has completed upgrade works at the Glenbeha and Fanure Water Treatment Plants in Co. Tipperary. The upgrades will provide a safer, more robust supply of water for over 6,000 people on the Roscrea Water Supply Scheme.
The €2m investment ensures the continued delivery of a clean, secure, and reliable supply of drinking water to the area and has supported the removal of the Roscrea supply from the EPA’s Remedial Action List (RAL).

What was involved in the project:
The upgrades included a more advanced water treatment process and the provision of high specification disinfection, an electrical upgrade and provision of upgraded SCADA control and monitoring systems.
What are the benefits of this project?
This upgrade provides a more robust and advanced water treatment process, improving the drinking water quality for the area and ensuring full compliance with drinking water standards now and into the future.
It has:
- Ensured a safe and reliable water supply for over 6,000 people on the Roscrea Water Supply Scheme
- Ensured continued compliance with National and EU drinking water regulations.
- Enabled the removal of the Roscrea Water Supply from the EPA’s Remedial Action List (RAL).
Next Steps
Ward and Burke carried out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann. The project commenced in October 2024 and was completed in 2025.
