Fethard Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade
Uisce Éireann has commenced works to upgrade the Fethard Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Uisce Éireann, has commenced upgrade works on the Fethard Wastewater Treatment Plant. Murphy International Ltd, are delivering the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
What is involved with this project?
The Fethard Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade project includes delivery of:
- New inlet works
- New stormwater storage tank
- New anoxic and aeration tanks
- New final settlement tank
- New pump sets
- Additional ancillary works including upgrades to the existing mechanical
equipment in the existing treatment plant.
The project when complete will increase the capacity of the plant from a Population Equivalent (PE) of 3,000 to 4,150 (10-year forecast for all mechanical and electrical installations) and 4,300 (25 year forecast for all civil and structural installations).
What are the benefits of this project?
The upgraded wastewater treatment plant will:
- Provide better health and integrity to the environment
- Improve the water quality in the Clashawley River
- Facilitate growth and development in the area
- Ensure compliance with national and EU regulations relating to the treatment of
wastewater
Next steps
The works commenced on site in September 2024 and are expected to be completed by late 2026.
