Dunlavin Water Supply Rationalisation Project
Uisce Éireann has completed a project to improve the water supply in Dunlavin, Co Wicklow.
This project involved the construction of approximately 7km of pipeline connecting Dunlavin to the Greater Dublin Area (GDA) water supply zone.
The new pipeline represents a €9 million investment in improving water supply security and resilience for homes and businesses in Dunlavin. The existing drinking water infrastructure in the area was not sufficient to meet current demand.
David Walsh Civil Engineering Ltd. worked on behalf of Uisce Éireann to deliver this project. Works were completed in February 2026.
What are the benefits of this project?
The works carried out as part of this project will:
- Increase security and resilience of the drinking water supply to approx. 1,000 customers in the area;
- Reduce the risk of night-time restrictions;
- Facilitate future growth and development, including the delivery of housing.
What is involved as part of this project?
- Construction of a new booster pumping station and associated pipework at the existing Brannockstown Pumping Station site, Co. Kildare;
- Construction of 7.3km of rising main along the R412 between Brannocktown Pumping Station and Dunlavin village;
- Decommissioning of the existing water supply to Dunlavin;
- Construction of approximately 200m of new pipeline in Dunlavin village, between St Kevin’s Community College and Dunlavin Soccer Club.
