Dunhill to Ballyvadden Water Main Project
Uisce Éireann has completed works to deliver a new water network between Dunhill and Ballyvadden to provide a more secure and reliable water supply.
Uisce Éireann has completed works to install a new water main between Dunhill and Ballyvadden, to provide a more secure and reliable water supply and to cater for future growth and development in the area.
The existing drinking water infrastructure serving the areas of Ballylaneen, Bunmahon, Kill & Annestown was not sufficient to meet demand and could be prone to restrictions that impacted the local communities.
Ballylaneen Water Treatment Plant experienced regular operational issues, and outages due to capacity constraints and has now been decommissioned. It had supplied water to the Ballyvadden Reservoir, which in turn served the network for Kill, Ballylaneen, Bunmahon & Annestown.
The construction of a new 7.6km water main feeding the Ballyvadden Reservoir now connects the network in this area to a reliable and robust water supply coming from the Sporthouse Reservoir. We call this ‘Rationalisation’. Rationalisation of a water supply means we need to build an extension to the underground water network to connect an area to another water supply.
The water supply zone along the coast of Waterford including the towns mentioned above now has a more resilient, reliable and safe supply of water.
Mallwood Ltd delivered these works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
